The objective of the risk assessment of genetically modified organisms is to determine and assess the potential direct or indirect, immediate or delayed adverse effects thereof on human and animal health or the environment, which may be caused by deliberate release of specific genetically modified organisms. It further provides for general principles of the environmental risk assessment; rules for environmental risk assessment; and rules for assessment of adverse effects of the genetically modified organism.
