Abstract This Regulation, consisting of 120 sections divided into nine Chapters, made under the Biosecurity Act 2015, regulates several sectors related to biosecurity, such as: animal production and marketing within the Australian territory. This Regulation is divided as follows: Preliminary (Chap. 1); Chapter 2 deals with 'Managing biosecurity risks: goods' and makes provision for and in relation to notices that must be given of goods that are, or are intended to be: a) brought into Australian territory; and b) unloaded at a landing place or port in Australian territory. Chapter 3 deals with 'Managing biosecurity risks: conveyances' and makes provision for and in relation to reports that must be given by an operator of an aircraft or vessel in the circumstances referred to in paragraph 193(1)(a) or b) of the Act. In particular, provides for and in relation to the following: a) information that must be included in a report; b) manner in which a report must be given; c) person to whom a report must be given; d) time at which, or period during which, a report must be given; e) exceptions to the requirement to give a report. Chapter 4 deals with 'Ballast water and sediment' and provides for the Management of discharge of ballast water.
