Abstract

These regulations give effect to Articles 29, 30 and 31 of Directive (EU) 2018/2001 on the promotion of the use of energy from renewable sources (recast). The regulations provide for sustainability and greenhouse gas emissions saving criteria that must be fulfilled in order for energy from biofuels, bioliquids and biomass fuels to be taken into account for the purposes of contributing towards the set Union target, measuring compliance with renewable energy obligations, being eligible for financial support. Further the regulations provide for the verification of compliance with the sustainability and greenhouse gas emissions saving criteria as well as for the calculation criteria of the greenhouse gas impact of biofuels, bioliquids and biomass fuels.
