Abstract

These Regulations, in respect of Northern Ireland, provide for the appointment of competent authorities in relation to Regulation (EU) No 528/2012 of the European Parliament and of the Council concerning the making available on the market and use of biocidal products and Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008 of the European Parliament and of the Council on classification, labelling and packaging of substances and mixtures. They additionally make provision for the competent authorities in Northern Ireland to authorise biocidal products for essential use, following the granting of a derogation by the European Commission under Commission Regulation (EC) No 1451/2007.
