Regulation 2(1) specifies the actions to be implemented progressively, including: (a) the determination of exposure to environmental noise through noise mapping; (b) making information on environmental noise and its effects available to the public. These Regulation aim also at providing a basis for the development of measures intended to reduce noise emitted by the major sources, particularly road and rail vehicles and infrastructure, aircraft, outdoor and industrial equipment and mobile machinery. The noise indicators referred to in Annex I to Directive 2002/49/EC. The assessment methods to be implemented shall be those specified in Annex II to the same Directive. Strategic noise maps shall be elaborated in accordance with regulation 8. Regulations 13 and 14 concern offences and penalties respectively.
