The general functions of the Board shall be: (a) Subject to the provisions of this Act, to exercise control over the manufacture, importation, sale, and use of animal remedies: (b) To ensure that animal remedies are efficient and safe for use on animals: (c) To consider and determine applications under this Act for the issue of licences to manufacture or import animal remedies: (d) To exercise and perform such functions, powers, and duties as are conferred or imposed on it under this Act or any other enactment. Part II regulates the issue of licences to manufacture or import animal remedies. Part III regulates the labelling of animal remedies and containers. Part IV contains provisions relative to sale of remedies. Part provides for sampling and testing and power of inspection. Part VI contains special provisions relating to biochemical substances. "Biochemical substance includes: (a) any preparation made from animal glands or tissues: (b) any substance manufactured for the purpose of having the same action as a preparation made from animal glands or tissues: (c) any serum, antitoxin, or antigen: (d) any anaerobic vaccine, killed bacterial vaccine, viral vaccine, or living bacterial vaccine: (e) Any virus or micro-organism, whether living or not: (f) any product of a virus or micro-organism which is intended for use, or is ordinarily used, in treatment of animals or the diagnosis or detection of animal diseases.
