Abstract

This Statutory Measure, under section 15 of the Agricultural Product Standards Act, 1990, provides rules for the placing on the market of pears in South Africa. In particular it provides for control over the sale of pears and sets out quality requirements for pears offered for sale and specifies quality classes. Imported pears may be exempted from quality requirements as set out in this Measure provides that they comply with specified international standards and are properly certified. Other provisions concern labelling, packing and (methods of) sampling. The Measure also provides for appeals in terms of section 10(1) of the Act. The Measure is completed by two Schedules.
