Abstract The Regulation makes provision for the establishment or administration of nature reserves in the Gansu province. It consists of 26 articles. Article 2 gives the definition of nature reserve. Nature reserves are classified into different categories: state nature reserve, province and regional or county nature reserve. The Regulation also rules the nature reserve in the Yuannan province. Article 14 sets out the administrative rules governing the areas. Logging, hunting, fishing, cutting herbs, reclaiming, firing, mining, gathering stone, sand or soil, or discharging waste are strictly forbidden in the protected area.
