Abstract

This Act makes provision for the protection of animal and plant species that are declared to be protected by notification of the Government. The Act regulates in general terms trade in protected animals and plants, control over trade in animals and plants. Control authorities shall also supervise implementation of Council Regulation (EC) No. 338/97 on the protection of species of wild fauna and flora by regulating trade therein. Section 8b prescribes offences and penalties.
