Abstract This Act, which is composed of 24 articles, lays down provisions concerning the environmentally safe storage of carbon dioxide, in order to contribute to the fight against climate change. This Act does not apply to the storage of carbon dioxide with total intended storage below 100 kilotonnes, undertaken for the purpose of research, development or testing of new products and processes. The present Act is composed of the following Sections: Introductory provisions (Sec. 1); Conditions for authorization of carbon dioxide storage (Sec. 2); Obligations during operation of repository and its closure (Sec. 3); Financial measures (Sec. 4); Access to transport network and storage of carbon dioxide (Sec. 5); Public administration, inspections and sanctions (Sec. 6).
