Abstract The aim of this act is to prevent the occurrence and harmfulness of packaging waste and reduce the amount and harmfulness to the environment. The present Act lays down requirements for the composition, properties and labeling of packaging, rights and obligations of legal and natural persons in the management and collection of packaging, the competence of state administration for packaging and packaging waste, and liablility for violations of obligations. This Act applies to all types of packaging placed on the market or put into circulation in the Slovak Republic, and the packaging waste regardless of their place of origin, their use and the material used.
