Abstract The Department of Fisheries may give instructions regarding the technical standards for production of aquaculture products and related services (sect. 2, fifth comma). Section 16 concerns rules to be issued by the Department for the approval of fish farming premises and equipment, including premises and equipment for storage, transport, packing and sale of fish products. Section 17 provides for internal control, whereas section 18 concerns rules for the control of environmental impact of fish farming installations. The Department may also prohibit fish farming in specified areas for purposes of conservation of aquatic organisms and their ecosystems (sect. 19).
