Abstract

This Act provides for the management and conservation of forests on "state-owned common land", that is, public land subject to rights of common to e.g. fishing, forestry, hunting of game etc. but owned by the crown/state. The Act is divided into four Chapters: Public management and administration (1); Timber logging rights (2); Election of common councils (3); Miscellaneous provisions (4). The right to harvest timber is granted to those owners of properties within the common areas which from old have harvested in those areas (sect. 2.1).
