The Act entered into force on a date established by the King.
Abstract

This Act defines the territorial waters, territorial sea and contiguous zone of Norway including Svalbard, Jan Mayen, Bouvetøya, Peter I's Island and Dronning Maud Land. The territorial waters shall consist of the marine territory and internal waters. The territorial sea shall measure twelve nautical miles from the baseline and all waters on the landward side of the baseline shall be internal waters. Baselines shall be declared by the King, and if not, shall be the low-water line following the coast. A zone contiguous to the territorial sea of twenty-four nautical miles is established. The maritime zones may be delimited by agreements with other States. (8 sections)
