Abstract This Act establishes protected areas of natural water, activities prohibited in these areas and measures for the protection of surface water and groundwater naturally occurring in protected water management area. The present Act regulates the rights and obligations of persons concerning protection of water and water measurements, the competence of the state administration concerning protected water management area and the liability for breaching obligations under this Act. For the purposes of this Act protected water management area is defined as the significant area of natural accumulation of surface water and groundwater where the resources of surface water and groundwater are created and renewed in natural way.
