Abstract

The Act amends the Fishery Act of 1996 by inserting a new section 22a, which requires approval of the government for the establishment of fish buyer and fish processing facilities. The same applies if a facility is converted to purchase and handle other fish species than those for which it was originally established. This requirement does not apply in case of takeover of existing facilities. Consultation with the parties involved shall take place. The Government may issue further rules on the establishment of new procurement and production plants, as well as on the conversion of existing plants.
