Abstract

This Act lays down some amendments and addenda to the Wastes Act. In particular, the present Act establishes the hierarchy of waste management. The waste management must respect the following hierarchy: (a) prevention of waste generation; (b) preparing for re-use; (c) recycling of waste; (d) other use of wastes, e.g. for energy purposes; (e) disposal of wastes. Exemptions from the hierarchy of waste management are allowed for cases when the assessment of the overall impact of the waste generation confirms it. This Act lays down also obligations of producers and accredited representatives for the recycling of wastes.
