This Agreement shall apply to Syrian and Lebanese animals, animal products and animal waste according to the legislation in force in both Countries (art. 2). Article 3 defines animal by-products, animal products and animal residuals. The introduction or taking out of animals from both Countries must be done only at the authorized crossing-points (art. 4). Article 5 defines requirements and conditions for the introduction of animals into both Countries which are: (a) provided with sanitary certificates issued by the Veterinary Authority at the Ministry of Agriculture of the country of origin; and (b) be in possession of disease-free analysis. All costs related to animal feeding, sheltering, storing, transporting, etc. during the detention or quarantine shall be at the animal owner's expense (art. 6). Article 7 provides for the adoption of an international text and form for sanitary certificates. The transit of animals and animal products shall be facilitated between the two countries (art. 9). The Standardization and Metrology standards adopted in both countries shall apply to all imported and exported animal products (art. 11). One Country shall inform the other in case of the outbreak of any of the diseases indicated in List A of the International Epidemic Office (art. 12). Article 17 establishes joint quarantine centres in the crossing points between the two Countries. Scientific documents, publications and research related to the veterinary field, experience, etc. shall be exchanged between the two countries. (art. 20 and 21).
