The fields aforesaid cover, among others, environment (including climate research), agriculture, fisheries science, natural resources, non nuclear energy, marine sciences and technology. Cooperative activities in such areas shall be conducted on the basis of the following principles: 1) mutual benefit; 2) reciprocal opportunities to engage in cooperative activities; 3) equitable and fair treatment; 4) exchange of information. Article 5 establishes forms of cooperative activities. A Joint Consultative Group shall be set up for the oversight of scientific and technological cooperation under this Agreement (art. 6). The Annex attached deals with intellectual property related to the fields falling within the present Agreement. Disputes concerning intellectual property which may arise should be settled through discussions between the relevant participants, or, if necessary, the Parties. Upon mutual agreement of the Parties, the participants may submit a dispute to an arbitral tribunal for binding arbitration. Unless the participants agree otherwise in writing, the arbitration rules of UNCITRAL shall govern.
