Résumé

The Parties Agree that the French competent authorities shall issue a non-specified amount of fishing licences valid for periods to be determined annualy. These licences authorize U.S. flag vessels to fish in the economic zones of New caledonia and the Wallis and Futuna Islands. U.S. fishing in these zones shall be in accordance with provisions of this Agreement (art. I). The Government of the U.S. shall take appropriate measures to prevent U.S. vessels from fishing without a licence and so that the vessels so licensed abide the applicable fishing laws of the French Government (art. IV). If a U.S. vessel is seized or its crew arrested, the competent French authorities shall immediately inform the Government of the U.S. of such action (art. V). Other articles deal with consulatations between the Parties, exchange of information and promotion of the fishing industry of the territories concerned. (7 articles)
