The Business Charter for Sustainable Development, a set of 16 principles for environmental management which has become the Green Code for business, was created at the initiative of the private sector through the ICC. UNEP cooperated in a worldwide campaign to encourage business, especially small and medium-sized companies, to implement the charter.
