But developing countries have often been too badly informed or badly equipped to take needed precautions against these technologies ' environmental hazards. Developing countries need to increase good housekeeping in industries, and to do their homework before entering into negotiations to obtain new technologies. In the future, newly industrialized countries are likely to be involved in developing and marketing environmentally benign technologies worldwide
