An applicant may apply to kill or capture a number of any species of specially protected animal or protected animal up to a maximum number specified in the second column of the Second Schedule (reg. 3(1)). Provisions of regulation 6 place restrictions on the use of certain types of firearms for hunting. Hunting licences in the form set out in the Third Schedule may be issued by local authorities with consent of the Permanent Secretary (reg. 8). The 19 regulations are completed by three Schedules containing forms of licences, and specifying protected animals and fees.
