Résumé

South Shetlands is cancelled from the list in which whaling is allowed (reg. 3). Regulation 5 is amended by requiring, as part of the application procedure, information on ships for which an application for a licence is made. Regulation 9 concerns the use of spare whaling vessels: transfer of licence shall be obtained before the spare whaling vessels shall be used instead of the vessels for which originally a licence was obtained. A new limit on the number of carcasses at a factory or factory ship is introduced: no more carcasses shall be kept than the number of carcasses which the factory or factory ship is normally able to use within 33 hours (in the case of a factory ship) or 36 hours (in the case of a factory) (reg. 11). Regulation 14 is amended by introducing an obligation to report on calving grounds and migration routes of whales. Various minor amendments are made to regulation 17.
