The Board shall perform structural and non-structural activities including: waterworks for flood control, drought prevention, soil conservation, etc.; works for the improvement of water flows to assist fisheries, navigation, wildlife development, etc.; river bank protection; construction and maintenance of coastal embankment; prevention of salinity intrusion and desertification; harvesting of water for irrigation, environmental preservation, and supply of drinking water (sects. 5 and 6). The general administration of the Board shall vest in the Board of Directors formed by members specified in section 8. Powers and duties of the Board are defined in section 9. The Board shall appoint a Director General with powers and functions specified in section 13. Sections 15 to 18 deal with the following matters: implementation and management of future projects; transfer of the management and management of existing projects; land acquisition for the Board; sale of abandoned infrastructures. The Board shall have its own fund and shall submit every year to the Government budget estimates for the next financial year.
