Résumé This Act lays down requirements relative to the carrying out of water supply, sewerage and drainage systems in the sense of the Utilities Act 2000. The owner of premises on which it is proposed to do plumbing or sanitary drainage work must, in writing, appoint a certifier in relation to the work (sect. 5). This certifier is a registered construction practitioner who is registered in the category of plumbing plan certifier in accordance with the Construction Practitioners Registration Regulations. A certifier shall be responsible for approval of a plan in relation to plumbing or sanitary drainage work. A certifier must not approve a plan in relation to plumbing or sanitary drainage work unless the approvals set out in sections 8 have been obtained from the responsible utility, being a utility licensed to provide sewerage services using a sewerage network or a utility licensed to provide water services using the water supply network, and other conditions set out that section are met. A provision in a contract or agreement that aims to limit the operation of a certifier in accordance with the provisions of this Act shall have no effect. Other provisions of this Act regulate various operations of private parties in relation to sewerage systems or interfering with the sewerage or water supply network. Penalties are prescribed.
