Résumé This Act, consisting of 23 sections, provides for the vitamin A enrichment in edible oils and for its sale, preservation, supply, and marketing. The edible oils will be enriched in Vitamin 'A' according to the level specified in Schedule 1. No person shall sell, preserve, supply or market non-enriched oil. No person can import any refined edible oil that was not enriched by Vitamin 'A' according to the specified level. The packaging containing the fortification logo mentioned in schedule II will be used on edible oil bottles, tin, containers or jars, stored or displayed for sale by edible oils or refiners. A statement as described in sub-section (1) must be shown on labels in Bangla and English, in a comprehensible manner and easily visible. For the purpose of ensuring the quality of edible enriched oil, internal quality standard controls must be put in place. Every edible oil refinery or enriching plant will test the samples of edible oil collected from the factory through a certified laboratory and ensure the enrichment according to the level specified in schedule 1.
