Résumé

Wildlife meat (wildfowl meat), including meat of exotic animals such as crocodile, kangaroo, tortoise, ostrich and other species subject to hunting, including those bred in reserves or natural habitats is admitted to the territory of the Russian Federation on condition that it comes from the meat processing and packing factories authorized by the central state veterinary institution of the exporting country that exercises permanent supervision over their activity. Import of crocodile meat, kangaroo meat, tortoise meat, ostrich meat and meat of other exotic animals can be authorized only in the presence of written sanitary and epidemiological certificate issued by the Russian Ministry of Public Health certifying suitability of each single product for public feeding. Wildlife species (wildlife fowl) which meat is destined for export in the Russian Federation, must pass veterinary inspection prior slaughter, while carcasses and internal organs (of all species) must pass veterinary and sanitary expertise after slaughtering. Both the proceedings must be conducted by veterinary institution of the exporting country. Meat must be cut at the meat processing and packing factories situated on the administrative territory supervised by state veterinary institution of the exporting country. Meat and meat products are admitted to the territory of the Russian Federation on condition that they derive from animals that have not been fed by feedstuffs with the use of genetically modified additives or other genetically modified sources. Cut meat must bear distinctive stamp of state veterinary survey marking either the name or the number of the meat processing and packing factory where wild animals have been slaughtered. Marked label must be stuck in such a way as to make it impossible to open package without damaging it. The compliance with these Veterinary and sanitary requirements must be certified by veterinary certificate, signed by the state veterinary inspector of the exporting country and composed in the language of the country of origin and in Russian. Dispatch of wildlife meat (wildfowl meat) to the Russian Federation is possible only after the authorization issued to the importer by Veterinary Department of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food.
