Veterinary and sanitary requirements No. 13-8-01/1-19 regarding import to the Russian Federation of reindeers.

Healthy reindeers, not vaccinated against brucellosis, are admitted to the territory of the Russian Federation on condition that the total number comes from infectious animal disease free farms and administrative territories. Pregnant animals are not subject for export to the Russian Federation. Reindeers are admitted to the territory of the Russian Federation on condition that they have not been fed by feedstuffs containing additives composed of internal organs and tissues of ruminants, by feedstuffs produced with the use of genetically modified additives or other genetically modified sources. Animals selected for export to the Russian Federation must be confined for at least 21 days to special quarantine stations in the exporting country where they must be kept under observation for the whole period of confinement by the representatives of the Veterinary Department of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Russian Federation. During quarantine period the total number of animals must undergo clinical examination with daily thermoterapy. Reindeers must be vaccinated against anthrax not less than 20 days before dispatch if they had not been vaccinated 6 months earlier. If during the quarantine period as a result of diagnostic examination some animals manifest positive (serological, allergic and so on) reactions, the representative of the Russian Veterinary Department can decline the total number or some animals without any material responsibility on his part. In such a case the Russsian Veterinary Department must be instantly informed. The compliance with these Veterinary and sanitary requirements must be certified by veterinary certificate, signed by the state veterinary inspector of the exporting country and composed in the language of the country of origin and in Russian. The veterinary certificate must bear the date of diagnostic examinations and vaccination. Dispatch of animals to the Russian Federation is possible only after the authorization issued to the importer by Veterinary Department of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food.
