The Act, among other things: (a) promotes and protects the conservation of the natural environment and landscape beauty of Norfolk Island; (b) regulates the use of, and access to, the forestry resources of Norfolk Island; and (c) encourages the cultivation of plantation timbers as a renewable resource. The Act makes provision with respect to: the permit to take a prescribed protected tree; registration of an area of land as plantation; and the application for and granting of timber licences.
