Résumé

This Act declares the territorial sea of Nigeria "for all purposes to include every part of the open sea within twelve nautical miles of the coast of Nigeria (measured from the low water mark) or the seaward limits of inland waters" (sect. 1). Section 2 defines the jurisdiction in respect of offences committed in territorial waters. Section 3 prescribes that no person who is not a citizen of Nigeria shall be tried by a court of Nigeria for any offence committed on the open sea within the territorial waters unless before trail the Attorney-General of the Federation has issued a certificate signifying his consent to the trail of that person.
