Further, the Act also prohibits the transport, sale or possession of rosewood trees. However, as per the Act, dead or fallen rosewood trees may be removed with the permission of the prescribed authority. Additionally, the Act provides for penalties for violating the provisions of the Act. "Rosewood tree" includes Blackwood rose wood, Indian rosewood and Malabar black wood, their stumps and brush woods and also includes rose wood trees when they have fallen or have been felled and all rose wood whether cut up or fashioned or hollowed out for any purpose or not.
