The purpose of the Standard is to provide rules which must be complied with, ensuring - (a) compliance to the principles contained in section 2 of the Act and the duty of care, in terms of section 28(1) of the Act; (b) sustainable development within Gauteng Province; and (c} compliance to management measures, based on which activities are excluded from the requirement to obtain an environmental authorisation.The provisions of the Standard are applicable to activities excluded from acquiring an environmental authorisation, when undertaken within Zone 1 or Zone 5 of the Gauteng Province, as contemplated in Appendix 1. Plan contains various provisions regrading water resources management and prevention of water pollution.
