Résumé This Act comprising 53 Articles divided into X Chapters aims to provide for the establishment and governance of an independent Centre for (i) the collection, compilation, analysis, and publication of statistical information on economic, social, demographic, environmental, and general activities and conditions of the people; (ii) evaluation of the social impact of public policies, projects and programs. The Centre's functions and duties include (i) conducting censuses and surveys; (ii) developing integrated social and economic statistics for Southern Sudan and its states; (iii) establishing statistical standards; (iv) coordinating data collection to avoid duplication; (v) collecting and disseminating statistics; (vi) collaborating with government institutions; (vii) maintaining an inventory of relevant statistics; (viii) assisting users in obtaining international statistics; (ix) serving as a contact point for international organizations; (x) collaborating on the National Population Census with the Central Bureau of Statistics in Southern Sudan. In carrying out its functions, the Center will follow these main guiding principles and values (i) impartially providing statistical data to local authorities and the public; (ii) making decisions based on professional ethics and scientific principles; (iii) ensuring transparent presentation of statistical information; (iv) protecting confidentiality; (v) adhering to public laws and regulations; (vi) promoting consistency and efficiency in statistical systems through coordination and international standards.
