Moreover, the Act sets forth which measures are to be taken implementing international rules in order to ensure the above-mentioned objectives. The Act – consisting of 15 articles – deals with the following aspects: sphere of application and definition of terms, further definition of terms and exceptions, underlying principle, implementation of international rules, equipment of ships, shipboard living and working conditions, responsible personnel, surveillance, competent authorities, penalties, inspection of ships under foreign flags and empowerment of the Federal Minister for Traffic, Construction and Town Planning.
