These Sanitary Rules enter into force from the date of publication.
Résumé

Sanitary Rules No. 3.1.086-96 Prevention of infectious diseases and control of communicable diseases common to humans and animals (Salmonellosis) contain the main requirements for a set of preventive, anti-epizootic and anti-epidemic measures; present methods for improving infected farms, preventing food contamination at trade enterprises; and measures aimed at limiting the role of humans as a source of infection. These Rules are mandatory for application on all territory of Russia by state bodies, enterprises and business entities, institutions and other organizations, irrespective of their subordination, jurisdiction and forms of ownership, officials and citizens. Salmonellosis is an animal and human infectious disease. Salmonellosis of farm animals mainly affects young animals (calves, piglets, lambs, foals, fur puppies, chickens, ducks, goose, turkeys, etc.) The disease is manifested by the gastrointestinal tract and Septicaemia, and in the case of an acute and chronic course, pneumonia and arthritis. In sheep, mare, less often cows, salmonellosis causes abortions. People become infected with salmonellosis when eating food inseminated with salmonella. Keeping together animals of different breeds and species shall be prohibited. Feedstuffs infected with salmonella shall be subject to disinfection or destruction. In all cases of forced slaughter of animals, meat and organs shall be subject to mandatory bacteriological examination for salmonellosis.
