Résumé

This Law starts off with the prohibition of the sale of denatured food or food articles, it provides that food articles should not be sold if they are not in the nature, substance and quality demanded by the purchaser or when they are not composed of ingredients in accordance with the demand of the purchaser; the Law provides a fine for the violation of this provision. This Law empowers the Commissioner for agriculture to appoint analysts for all articles of food who may analyse food articles prior to their purchase or after they have been purchased. The Law further details the procedure for the analysis of food articles by analysts, and the respective roles of the involved parties, including the food seller, the purchaser and the analysts. At the end of the analysis, the analyst(s) is to publish a certificate of the analysis, which is to serve as sufficient evidence of the facts stated in it. The Law also prohibits false labelling, false warranty and the misapplication of warranty.
