This Law enters into force the day after its publication in the Official Gazette.
Résumé

This Law consisting of 30 articles aims at providing rules to practice the veterinary profession in Oman and establishes that (i) it is permissible to practice the profession of veterinary medicine or the auxiliary veterinary medical professions only after obtaining a license from the competent authority (Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries); (ii) it is necessary to submit the application to the competent authority, together with the documents specified by the Regulation; (iii) the competent authority shall create records for the registration of veterinarians, practitioners of the auxiliary veterinary medical professions and the professions they are licensed to practice; (iv) the veterinarian and practitioners of the auxiliary veterinary medical professions shall, while practicing the profession of veterinary medicine, observe its internationally recognized traditions, origins and ethics, and practice them with accuracy and honesty; (v) the competent authority shall publish information related to the diseases of compulsory reporting, and the veterinarian shall inform the competent authority immediately upon suspicion that any animal has been infected with one of these diseases with mentioning the name and address of the animal's owner; (vi) it is not permitted to conduct experiments or research on animals except after obtaining the approval of the competent authority; (vii) the veterinarian is not responsible for the outcome of any veterinary medical practices if they have followed the scientific and technical principles, made every effort, and used all means available to them during their work. The Law deals also with rules for veterinary facilities in terms of (i) establishment permits; (ii) changing the facility location; (iii) selling or storing veterinary preparations; (iv) equipment and authorizations to accommodate sick animals in the hospital or veterinary clinic, in accordance with the regulated conditions and controls; (v) inspections and sanctions.
