This Royal Decree enters into force on the date of its publication in the Official Gazette.
Résumé

This Royal Decree is composed of 3 articles and 2 Annexes. Article 1 confirms the duties and responsibilities of the Ministry of Environment as set out in Annex 1 to this Decree. The Ministry is to carry out its mandatory powers through the various administrations within its organizational structure (art. 2). This structure is illustrated in the diagram in Annex 2. Annex 1 lists the duties and responsibilities of the Ministry of Environment which include: preparing and implementing the National Plan for Environmental Protection; preparing special standards of pollution levels and specifications of discharges; cooperating with other Ministries and government bodies in environmental matters; establishing the Environmental Information Centre; training Omani employees in the field of environmental protection and prevention of pollution; and creating awareness of the dangers of waste discharges.
