Résumé This Resolution approves the Convention on Nuclear Safety, adopted in Vienna on 17 June 1994 and approved for accession by the Republic of Angola. The objectives of this Convention, consisting of 35 articles divided into four Chapters, are: achieve and maintain a high level of nuclear safety throughout the world by strengthening national measures and international cooperation, including, where appropriate, safety-related technical cooperation; establish and maintain effective protection at nuclear facilities against potential radiological hazards in order to protect individuals, society and the environment from the harmful effects of ionizing radiation of such facilities; prevent accidents with radiological consequences and mitigate these consequences in the case they occur. The Convention is divided as follows: Purpose, Definition and Scope of the Application (Chap. I); Obligations and General Provisions (Chap. II); Meetings of Signatories (Chap.
