Résumé This Resolution approves the African Union on Preventing and Combating Corruption, adopted on 11 July 2003, at the 2nd Ordinary Session of the African Union Conference, held in Maputo. The objectives of the Convention are: Promote and enhance the development, in Africa, by each Member State of mechanisms necessary to prevent, detect, punish and eradicate corruption and related offences in the public and private sectors; Promote, facilitate and regulate cooperation between Parties to ensure the effectiveness of measures and actions aimed at preventing, detecting, punishing and eradicating corruption and other related offences in Africa. Coordinate and harmonize policies and legislation among States Parties, with the aim of preventing, detecting, punishing and eradicating corruption in the Continent; Promote socio-economic development by removing obstacles to the exercise of economic, social and cultural rights, as well as civil and political rights; Create the necessary conditions to promote transparency and accountability in the management of public affairs.
