General requirements are: (a) products must be suitable for animal feed; (b) products shall be free from poisonous and toxic seeds as well as from hormonal substances, anabolic steroids, etc.; and, (c) the level of radioactivity of products must comply with the levels established by the Syrian Atomic Energy Authority. Particular requirements, and chemical and physical requirements for the importation of chaff are: (a) maximum level of humidity shall be 10 percent; (b) maximum limit of raw ashes shall be 13 percent; (c) shall be free from putridity, rottenness, parasites, poisonous fungi, metal substances, plastic substances and glass; and, (d) shall be free from living insects. Chemical and physical requirements for grass pea (Lathyrus Sativus) are: (a) humidity levels shall not be more than 10 percent; (b) maximum limit of toxin shall be 0.02 mg/kg; (c) damaged and spoiled grains shall not exceed 8 percent; and, (d) shall be free from living insects. The implementing measures mentioned in Article 2 of Resolution No. 45/t of 1999 concerning the control on the imported feeds shall apply to grass peas and chaff.
