Résumé

This Resolution, consisting of 41 articles divided into five Chapters and three Annexes, provides for criteria and guiding values of soil quality regarding the presence of chemical substances and establishes guidelines for the environmental management of areas contaminated by these substances as a result of anthropic activities. It specifies that in the occurrence of natural concentrations of chemical substances that may cause a risk to human health, the competent bodies should develop specific actions to protect the exposed population. This Resolution does not apply to areas and soils submerged in the marine and estuarine aquatic environment. The evaluation of soil quality, regarding the presence of chemical substances, must be carried out based on Guiding Values of Reference for Quality, Prevention and Research (VRQs). The soil VRQs for naturally occurring chemical substances will be established by the competent environmental agencies of the States and the Federal District, within 4 years after the publication of this Resolution, according to the procedure established in Annex I.
