Résumé This Resolution approves the Statute of the Ministry of Mineral Resources and Energy. The Statute, consisting of 24 articles divided into four Chapters, establishes composition, duties and responsibilities of the above mentioned Ministry, as the central organ of the State which, in accordance with the principles, objectives and tasks defined by the Government, directs and ensures the execution of the Government's policy in geological research, exploitation of mineral and energy resources, and in the development and expansion of infrastructure supply of electricity, natural gas and petroleum products. In particular, it is entitled to promote the following sectors: a) Proposal and implementation of policies in the Mineral Resources and Energy sector; b) Inventory and management of the country's mineral and energy resources; c) Legal and institutional framework; d) Dissemination of the potential of the Mineral Resources and Energy sector; e) Technological development with a view to the sustainable use of mineral and energy resources at national level; f) Participation of the private sector in the development and use of the potential of mineral and energy resources and respective infrastructures; g) Control of prospecting and geological research and the rational and sustainable use of mineral resources; h) Inspection and supervision of activities in the sector and control of the implementation of technical safety, hygiene and environmental protection standards; i) Control of oil production and the development of transport and logistics infrastructure; j) Development of electrical energy supply infrastructures; k) Increased access to energy in its various forms, with a view to stimulating the country's economic and social growth and development; l) Guarantee of security of supply and distribution of petroleum products at national level, with particular emphasis on the expansion of the distribution network to rural areas; m) Diversification of the energy matrix and efficient use of energy with a view to energy security and stability; and n) Safe and peaceful use of atomic energy.
