Résumé This Resolution approves the Statute of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce. This Statute, consisting of 23 articles divided into four Chapters, establishes composition, duties and responsibilities of the above mentioned Ministry. This Authority, in accordance with the principles and priorities defined by the Government, coordinates and ensures the execution of policies, strategies and plans for activities to be carried out in the areas of industry, commerce and services. In particular, the Ministry is responsible to perform the following activities: Propose and monitor the implementation of policies and strategies for the development of industry, trade and service; Promote adequate legal framework for the development of the sector, the standardization and quality services; Protect industrial property rights; Streamline inspection services for economic activities; Promote actions aimed at defending consumer rights; Coordinate with other State bodies to oversee matters relating to competition; Coordinate the development of the private sector; Promote industrialization geared towards the modernization of the economy; Foster industrial production, agro-processing and industrial competitiveness; Develop actions to promote cooperation programmes with a view to mobilizing technical assistance to projects and programmes in the sector; Promote the development of infrastructure for agricultural marketing and support to industrial activity; Develop and promote exports; Promote the development of products with added value and local content; research and industrial development, and the participation of the private sector in industrial, commercial and service development.
