This Regulation enters into force on 1 January 2001.
Résumé

This Regulation sets out the requirements concerning the activities for putting into market of luminescent lamps containing mercury, hereinafter referred to as “the lamps” and treatment and transportation of spent lamps. The Regulation is divided into 2 chapters, Additional Provisions, Transitional and Concluding Provisions and 2 annexes. Chapter 1 enlists the general requirements. Chapter 2 deals with the requirements to the waste management of spent lamps and is divided into 2 sections: Section 1 sets the requirements to the collection, and treatment of spent lamps; Section 2 deals with the planning and control conditions. All definitions are given in the Additional Provisions. Annex 1 enlists the lamps falling under the scope of the Regulation. Annex 2 sets out the marking sign to be put on the lamps placed on the market.
