Individuals and companies employing at least one agricultural engineer or one chemical engineer or one chemist are entitled to pesticide license, provided that they comply with all the other requirements indicated in the regulation. A Certificate of Permission for Agricultural Pest Combating is given to such individuals and companies prior to licensing. Permits are granted for one year and renewable after an inspection by the General Directorate of Protection and Controlling of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs. Products subject to licence are; (i) pesticides, (ii) Plant Development Regulators, (iii) Attractants, (iv) Repellants, (v) Insect Growth Regulators, (vi) Bio-preparations, and (vii) substances used for physiological disease treatments. Licenses are valid for 5 years and are renewable. A committee, comprising of experts from the General Directorate of Protection and Controlling, and General Directorate of Agricultural Research has been set up to oversee and take the necessary decisions on licensing.
