It shall not apply to cedretums or broadleaf forests. The purpose of the Regulation shall be to ensure: (a) the continuous, sustainable and rational use of forest resources; (b) the reforestation of and increase in protected forests; and (c) multiple uses of forests. Intermediate felling and sanitary felling shall be authorized in protected forests, but protected forest species shall not be subject to any type of felling. Felling types shall be determined according to a forest’s category and species composition, it soil stability against erosion and the presence of undergrowth. Timber extraction shall be based on inventories of forest plots. Felling shall be authorized in the following order: (a) drying trees and those damaged by forest fire, pests or diseases; (b) undercut from the previous years; (c) trees from which resin has been boxed; (d) overly mature forest; and (e) mature forest.
