They do not apply to vessels exclusively engaged in sport fishing, processing of fish at sea, research or training or transportation of fish (reg. 4). Regulation 6 specifies documents which the vessels are required to have on board. Regulation 7 provides for the issue a Fishing Vessel Safety Certificate which shall be subject to a survey of the vessel by a "recognized organization". Other provisions contain safety requirements with respect to the construction and maintenance of the vessel and equipment on board such as radio installations, navigation equipment, live-saving appliances and fire-fighting appliances.
