Résumé This Regional Regulatory Decree approves the structure of the Regional Directorate for Agriculture and Rural Development (DRA). It establishes composition, duties and responsibilities of the above mentioned Directorate, entitled to perform the following activities: propose and implement policy measures for the agricultural, livestock and agro-food sectors in the Autonomous Region of Madeira, aiming at strengthening and promoting family farming, income generating activities, competitiveness and qualification of production and activities, knowledge, innovation, circular economy, food security, animal health and welfare, protection of pet animals, as well as stimulating the sustainable development of the environment and the rural population. In particular, it aims at providing specialized technical assistance to agricultural and livestock farms, and traditional agro-industry, orienting them towards more sustainable practices that value ecosystem services, favouring an increase in the contribution of activities to the decarbonisation of the economy. In addition, it encourages the growth of agriculture in organic production, as well as the adoption of other sustainable agronomic methods and practices, such as integrated production and integrated protection.
